OKAN Brixton Village
Bringing childhood memories from Osaka to Brixton
Okan Brixton Village specialises Osaka-style okonomiyaki, Japanese savoury pancakes, bringing owner Motoko’s memories of childhood in Japan to the streets of Brixton. Motoko has been serving okonomiyaki from street stalls around Brick Lane since 2002 and opened Okan to introduce Londoners to a new and authentic okonomiyaki experience.
Available with a wide variety of toppings, Okonomiyaki is often served in tiny shops, each with its own unique character and style. Part of the joy of eating Okonomiyaki is seeing it being made in front of you; smelling it, hearing it sizzle and finally tasting it fresh from the griddle, topped with their signature prawn, squid, kimchi and sweet corn or any number of other classic toppings. With that all important open kitchen, this is down to earth, authentic Japanese street food in an authentic Japanese setting for Brixton to enjoy.
“I hope you feel like you’re in a back street of Osaka right here in Brixton” Motoko, Founder
