Comins Tea House
Contemporary, artisan tea house
The art of taking tea, or, as some may argue, the art of taking time. Two recreations all too often undervalued, sidelined as unimportant and unproductive. Well, not at Comins Tea House, a beautiful tea café on Monmouth Street, Bath. Here husband and wife Michelle and Rob Comins have created an oasis of calm, where white walls and Scandinavian-style décor provide the perfect backdrop from which to sit back, relax and simply enjoy the tea you’re drinking and the company of whoever you may be with.
This is not your standard café. No detail has been left unconsidered – tables are carved with circular dimples to hold tea flasks and peppered with gutters for your dregs, while maps of tea estates hang on the walls, an ode to where the couple have travelled to hand select each of the single estate, loose leaf teas they serve. A food menu has been carefully considered to complement the tea, forget fairy cakes, you’re more likely to find Sri Lankan hoppers, Japanese gyoza, matcha ice cream and Darjeeling-laced caramel shortbread. Contemporary, cool and utterly calming, Comins Tea House provides a little bit of what everyone could benefit from more of - tea and time to talk.
