Contemporary, handwoven textiles
Working off a loom inside her shop, a visit to Katherine Fraser is quite unlike any other shopping experience, with everything inside this boutique either made on site by Katherine and her small team of weavers, or hand selected from a collection of British designers across the country. This means the origin of every piece, even down to the wool that’s used, can be traced. Ensuring everything is ethically produced and British made.
Originally interested in fine art, Katherine discovered weaving at university and instantly fell in love with the process, switching degrees to textile design. Today, from her shop, she runs workshops to teach other people how to weave as well as designing and making the collections sold in store. Bespoke designs are a popular choice; customers discuss their preferences with Katherine and her extensive knowledge means she can advise on how colours mix on the loom and how wool fits together. Customers return time and time again for advice, to buy or learn, or just to catch a glimpse of Katherine working on the loom.
