The Old Cinema

Antique. Vintage. Retro

Home > Explore > Chiswick > The Old Cinema

Opened in 1979, The Old Cinema, London's only antique, vintage and retro department store, has a truly unique and varied history. This 10,000 sq ft Tardis of a store has real hidden depths. Starting life as a local picture house in 1908, it continued in that guise until 1934. It remained empty for two decades apart from a brief stint as parachute storage in World War II.

Recently named by Retail Week as one of the '100 best shops' in the world, they have come a long way since narrowly being spared from becoming a supermarket in the 1970's. Today the Old Cinema is a family run business that offers a remarkably diverse range of stock. You will find anything from Kitsch Americana, lighting from Italy to textiles from India. Thanks to the inspirational and eclectic mix of styles and ideas, furniture and accessories, The Old Cinema has become one of Chiswick's most loved local attractions.
